Difference Between Accommodations

Wondering what the difference between a hotel, motel, inn and bed and breakfast is? Here's a look at some of the distinctive traits of each:

Hotel: A hotel typically provides the most elaborate accommodations. Jacuzzi suits, restaurants, room service and plush accommodations are typically offered at hotels.

Motels: Motels typically offer the basic items that a traveler would need, including bedding, a shower, phone and television. Some motels also provide Continental breakfasts and pools, as well.

Inns: Inns are very similar to motels in that they typically provide only the basics that you would need while traveling; however, an inn offers a more family-friend, cozy feeling than a motel. They are usually family owned and operated.

Bed and Breakfast: A bed and breakfast offers the most intimate experience of them all. A bed and breakfast is usually run out of someone's home or a house that used for the sole purpose of a bed and breakfast. Bedrooms are let out for rent, which are private, but other areas of the home are shared public spaces, including living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens and in some bed and breakfasts, the bathrooms are shared as well.
